I have mostly MAC brushes in my collection apart from some Sigma and ELF brushes. All MACs are really great quality. I bought all of them about 3 years ago and they are still as good as new. I had some problems with the large fluffy powder brush (134 I think) when I was using it to apply my favorite MAC base reviewed here.

I felt an odd itch every time I used the brush and then discovered a lot to my embarrassment that I had left the brush unwashed for a long time (Read a month: O) and that it had caused the bristles to become rigid due to the accumulated product. After washing it with baby shampoo, it was back to be its soft, spongy self and it stopped irritating my skin. Since then I have washed them judiciously every week. All wash very well without spilling and drying overnight.

General, MAC brushes are a real investment and I think they are worth every penny we spend on them. I think it’s better to have a perfect brush to do the job instead of 10 cheap brushes. And the better the tools, the better the makeup application. It does not make sense to spend thousands on cosmetics and be mean with accessories. We need great tools to do justice to all those beautiful blushes sitting in our vanity. OK sermon really!!!

Accept, not yet, just one more thing to add, according to me who owns a great brush is minimalist and reduces the maintenance effort you need put on them!

Brush 116 blush & my option:

If you want a single blush brush in your collection that does what you are supposed to do perfectly then invest in this 116 brush. The bristles are soft but stiff enough not to just touch the blush and fold but to pick up the correct quantity of product for a single application, does it make sense? It slides along the cheek effortlessly without pushing or creating friction distributing the blush evenly while not losing any product at all.

Washing and maintenance:

As for maintenance, I wash it once a week with any regular shampoo and let it dry overnight. The next morning it is completely dry and very soft.
